What is the cause and method of rectifying Err 14.1 IPM fault protection?

ANSWER

■ Cause
Excess current detected in the IPM (intelligent power module) of the driving motor.
■ Action
[1] Check if the UVW of the motor is correctly connected.
[2] Is max torque generated? → Check with “d04.Trq” on the front panel → When at max torque (normally 300%), reduce acceleration/deceleration or load to avoid max torque.
[3] At small outputs, measure the resistance between the phases to check for imbalance. If an imbalance exists, replace the motor.
(For large output, winding resistance is 1Ω or below and difficult to judge)
[4] Check grounding of the motor. Measure resistance between U, V, and W and ground. If it is not infinity, replace the motor.
If no improvement can be seen or the problem cannot be identified, turn on the servo with the motor power cable disconnected. If Err14 is generated by turning the shaft only a little, then amplifier breakage is possible. If no error is generated, possible faults include a broken motor grounding wire, motor wire contact failure, or motor failure.
